Privacy

Short version: we collect as little as possible and sell nothing.

Without an account

You can use the whole site without an account. We place no cookies until you choose a country or press "Remember on this device" on the services page. That stores one functional cookie containing only your country and the services you ticked, for one year, so the site remembers your choice. It contains no ID and is never used for tracking. There are no analytics, tracking pixels or third-party scripts. Images are served from our own server, so your browser doesn't contact other sites while you browse.

With an account

An account consists of a username and a password. We don't ask for your e-mail address or name. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash (Argon2id), so even we can't read them. If you add a birth year, it is only used for the childhood and youth filters. Your favourites and saved searches are stored with your account. When you're logged in, one session cookie keeps you logged in.

Visitor statistics

To see which pages are used, we count visits ourselves, without cookies and without Google Analytics or any other outside service. Your browser sends the page address, the website you came from, your screen width and your time zone (to estimate the country). A visitor is recognised for one day only, with a scrambled code that is replaced every night, so visits can't be linked across days or traced back to you. Your IP address is not stored. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", you are not counted at all. The detailed visit log is deleted after 95 days; only daily totals (numbers, nothing about individual visitors) are kept for two years.

Security logging

To stop people from guessing passwords, failed login attempts are counted per connection. We store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for this, never the address itself, and delete it after 24 hours.

Trailers

Trailers are hosted by YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; we then use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). From that moment YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Links to streaming services

Buttons such as "Watch on Netflix" take you to that service's website. What happens there is covered by their privacy policy.

Your rights

You can delete your account at any time on the account page. That removes everything we store about you immediately.
